Before and After: 1975 Moog Micromoog Synthesizer

The Moog Micromoog came in with uneven key height and dry rotten and hardened key bushings.  The result was an almost impossible to play instrument.  In addition, the potentiometers were all scratchy, the switches were noisy, keyboard would randomly trigger notes or no note at all, and the case was dirty and needed to be deep cleaned.  Finally new Moog badging on the back was needed.

This is a closeup of the worn, hardened, dry rotted key bushings on the keyboard.  Some have broken off and actually were not present.  These bushings were removed and then new key bushings were installed.

The busbar and the j-wires is what the keys when pressed trigger the corresponding note.  The keys did not reliably trigger the note sounds when pressed. The main busbar needed to be gently cleaned, and the j-wires needed to be adjusted to trigger properly.  each key has one j-wire.  During this time the key frame and case was extensively cleaned and lubricated with the proper lubricant.

After: A fully Restored Moog synthesizer

Here is a frontal view of the finished product.  Now the keys are even and play very well, the keys sound when the key is pressed, the potentiometers do not make scratching noises, the switches switch without noise, and the unit is now cleaned and looked like it did in 1975.

Here is a rear view showing the new rear panel decal.  the decal was acquired from a vendor on Etsy.com.  It fit perfectly and looks original.

The keytops were bleached and polished.  the keys look factory new.  The case was polished, and the base was repainted black satin, the feet were replaced with the proper feet.

The Buyer was very impressed with the end product:

" By looks, this is in the most amazing shape I have seen one. That was the selling point to me. Will comb through it this afternoon. So beautiful."
